The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige - Book Review #3

Hey Book Lovers,
Today I bring to you another book review, this review is on the second book in the 'Dorothy Must Die' trilogy. Synopsis (Can be a spoiler if you haven't read the first book!)// My name is Amy Gumm - and I'm the other girl from Kansas. After a tornado swept through my trailer park, I ended up in Oz. But it wasn't like the Oz I knew from books and movies. Dorothy had returned, but she was now a ruthless dictator. Glinda could no longer be called the Good Witch and the Wicked Witches who were left? They'd joined forces as the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked, and they wanted to recruit me. My mission? Kill Dorothy. Except my job as an assassin didn't work out as planned. Dorothy is still alive. The Order has vanished. And the home I couldn't wait to leave behind might be in danger. Somehow, across a twisted and divided land, I have to find the Order, protect the true ruler of Oz, take Dorothy and her henchmen down - and try to figure out what I'm really doing here.

My Review// I was really excited to read this book as I found the first book so captivating and detailed, so I had high hopes for the sequel to the first book. I wasn't disappointed but I did prefer the first book as I feel this book is more of a filler/bridge to the third book that is coming out later this month. I was also incredible confused with how the story ended, I felt like so much happened and then the book had ended, so all I hope is that my unanswered questions will be answered in the final book.
When it came to Danielle Paige's description of the new places we saw in Oz, it was brilliant. I could really picture out where Amy Gumm was and I was never disappointed with the descriptions within the book, it made the book easier to follow. I loved Amy even more in this book as I felt she blossomed in to her own character, as she was put in to situations where she needed to decide what to do and she wasn't taken orders from anyone, she only had a direction and that was it. I think she did well with the unfortunate situations she was put in, I also hope to see her character develop even more in the final book.
It was nice to see a little more of Ozma and learning about the shock we learnt at the end of the first book, I also enjoyed meeting a few new characters such as Polychrome and Queen Lulu. Overall I did enjoy the book, I just hope we get a bit of an explanation to the ending of this book in the new book to come!

I hope you enjoyed this review, have you read the 'Dorothy Must Die' trilogy?

Love you all,
  Tabitha x
